Yoga is back. Lets start nice and easy (for now:))

Stretch by candle light yoga…..
Come prepared to stretch yourselves silly, while relaxing the body with some deep breathing. We will perform gentle movements, allowing the body to soften so our muscles have time to respond.

Jeanette Shelow- MacDougall is a certified Pose Running Instructor and Level 2 USA Swimming Coach. Jeanette is visiting us from Pasadena, CA. She is in her 11th year of racing as an Elite Amateur Triathlete. She has raced in 4 ITU world Champtionship races as well as 3, 70.3 IM World Championships and will be racing in the 2012 ITU WC in Auckland, New Zealand.
Jeanette will be teaching the
POSE METHOD OF RUNNING
at Nyack Fitness May 19th, 2012
from 1:30pm-2:30pm.

Hi yogi’s- Sooooo, some bad news, I am inured, (not from yoga I may add:)). I can not teach yoga this week at all, so there will be NO evening class. I am hoping to be back next week. Please check the Crossfit website and or the Nyack fitness website where I will be posting information about yoga, yoga poses and movements to help with your work outs.

This week class is focusing on Hip Mobility and Shoulder Opening. Jen has put together movements to increase your range of motion with squating, lunging, and other movements with the legs.

SPARTAN RACE - June 2nd and 3rd
Come join us we have a team forming from crossfit nyack and some of our personal training clients are forming a team as well.
The race is at Tuxedo Ridge Ski area, it is not far away. There are many heats going off every half hour, so you can race morning, noon, or early evening. There is a kids race as well, so the whole family can participate. Click on the link above to register.
I myself will be running the 5pm heat on Saturday with my client Trish, who has been running hills this month in preparation.

Hello Yogis!
Hope this email finds you well and you are enjoying the sunshine. I also hope you have all been feeling great by incorporating yoga into your daily routine.
This week there will be NO YOGA CLASS. Classes will resume on March 28th.
Please spread the word to your friends and family. Everyone is welcome, including all levels. When class resumes we will be working on shoulder opening and hip mobility.
Hope to see you all again on the mat. Till then, take your time with stretching and remember to breathe:)

Why Yoga?
Not only to clear your head a little, but to
increase your performance and mobility by improving your flexibility and posture, balance and body awareness. All of this happens while simultaneously clearing your head, decreasing stress and connecting to your breath.
AND SOME MORE REASONS……..
-come work on shoulder stability for overhead presses
-find better hamstring flexibility for your deadlifting
-improve overall posture
-increase flexibility in toes, ankles, calves, quadriceps, chests, shoulders and wrists
-increase spine flexibility
-improve squats by stretching the hip flexors and hip muscles
-find your core, use your core, feel your core and connect to your core
-work on alignment
-prevent injuries by working on movements slowly with greater awareness and agility
-have some fun with arm balances and inversions
Beginning February. Jen Mayer will be teaching a Yoga On- Ramp course.
You will learn the foundational elements of vinyas yoga: Ujjayl breath, the breakdown of sun salutations.
after the on-ramp, Jen will continue to offer her Power Vinyasa Yoga class. If you wish to participate in Power Vinyasa Yoga, it is recommended that you attend the yoga on-ramp. This will be a challenging but informative class and a smart way to learn the yoga poses and be safe at the same time.
